YOUNTVILLE WINE TOUR DAY TWO

Now that you're almost a native, you'll be even more interested in what Day Two holds for your Napa Valley visit.  Since your hotel offers breakfast and you probably want to hit the wineries, we're just covering options for Lunch and Dinner.

LUNCH:
Bistro Jeanty
The latest restaurant news in the Napa Valley is the arrival of the classic French bistro. Yountville's Bistro Jeanty (6510 Washington St.; 707-944-0103), for one, is causing a stir throughout California wine country. The chef-owner, Philippe Jeanty, worked for 20 years at Domaine Chandon's highly regarded haute cuisine restaurant. At his new place, which opened in April, the menu highlights simple French fare--steak frites, mussels steamed in Pinot Noir--at prices from $10 to $16.

DINNER:
French Laundry
Devotees book plane tickets to California and reserve tables months ahead for the chance to eat at Napa Valley's French Laundry, where Thomas Keller, arguably the best chef in America, puts his talents to work. Keller is famous for brilliant and whimsical fare, such as his savory ice cream cone--a cone-shaped cracker filled with sweet-onion crème fraîche and salmon tartare.
Since you plan to be within walking distance of the famed restaurant, you HAVE tyo eat there.  Reservations are difficult and we suggest calling to see how they're currently booking.  If you can't swing it, there's always Keller's Bisto:
Bouchon

Committed to making the best ultra premium handcrafted wines using traditional old world methodologies with some of the most state of the art equipment. For example, they gravity rack wines without the use of pumps and do not use any filtration in our finished product. This allows them to move the wine from tank to barrel to bottle without stripping any of the flavor components. They don't "over make" the wine. They let each variety and component speak from land from which it was grown. All wines are pesticide free, dry framed and hand picked and sorted which gives a lower yields, higher quality grapes, with intense flavors.

Come for a visit and enjoy the wonderful wines, tour the winery and cave and experience the breathtaking views of the valley. Call for an appointment at 707-944-0910.

Keever Vineyards is a small production, family-owned and operated winery located in the western hills just south of Yountville. The consulting winemaker, Celia Masyczek and the Keever family make an exquisite and elegant wine of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from the estate's five acre vineyard.

TASTING BY APPOINTMENT BUT WORTH IT!
Experience Keever Vineyards! Private tastings and tours are conducted by appointment only by one of the four members of the family.  Olga Keever (vintner/owner) conducts most of the tours but the Keever’s son, Jason, who is also the Cellar Master, pitches in and does a great job.  He’s even received Thank You notes from visitors.  Bill Keever (vintner/owner) also helps out with tours but he stays very busy doing nearly everything from CEO to Cellar Rat to Facilities Maintenance, etc.  Daughter, Ashley Keever, helps out in the office but will also pinch-hit with tours in the future.  Anyone wishing to visit is asked to call at least one day in advance to schedule an appointment.

The tasting room is designed to feel like an extension of the Keever’s home.  It provides visitors with an attractive, welcoming environment where they can enjoy the Keever Vineyards wines.  Breath-taking views from the tasting room’s two-story window include Wappo Hill, the Stag’s Leap rock formation and palisades and the valley from Yountville to the Silverado Country Club.  The 2007 Keever Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc, the 2006 Keever Vineyards Inspirado, are available for purchase online, and in our tasting room.    The 2005 Keever Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is available in select restaurants and wine shops, online and, of course, here in the tasting room.  Come and enjoy!
